The Edyn Group took over the former Ascot Hotel in Zurich, which had existed for around 70 years and was last owned by FIFA. The hotel, which has now been extensively renovated and modernised, has been renamed ‘Locke am Platz’ and re-opened in November 2023.

The ‘Locke am Platz’ is located in the heart of Zurich in the direct neighborhood of the Zurich Enge train station and the FIFA Museum. With its 15th property, the lifestyle aparthotel brand Locke Hotels has successfully entered the Swiss market and is thus further expanding its market presence in Europe.

The “Locke am Platz” is characterized by its unique and bold design by London-based design studio owned by Tatjana von Stein. It is inspired by the city and combined the cultural charm and spirit of the city of Zurich with the history of the existing building in the unique design.

Guests can settle into one of the 80 guest rooms spread over six floors and immerse themselves in the culture of the the district. By combining a lifestyle hotel with the elegant touch of the Swiss Riviera, Locke Hotels has created a temporary home away from home in a further 40 rooms in addition to 40 classic hotel rooms. Alongside the usual sleeping area and a bathroom, these rooms feature a kitchenette and a living/work area. The concept also includes additional social areas as well as the Choupette restaurant and bar on the ground floor of the aparthotel.

Drees & Sommer Switzerland has been supporting the client Edyn since 2021. Drees & Sommer Switzerland already provided technical and environmental due diligence during the acquisition process of the former Ascot Hotel, as well as client representation and quality assurance during the course of the project. The project team succeeded in the high-quality and sustainable realization of this hotel project in just two years.
