Drees & Sommer Switzerland is supporting Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe as the client's representative in the project management of the new construction of the Rank garage, an essential part of the overall programme. The new building consists of two utilisation units: Workshop and parking facility. The latter will be equipped with charging stations designed for e-buses. The support of temporary locations distributed throughout the city will ensure that the provision and operation of the bus system is guaranteed in the transition from diesel and gas to electric. BVB will convert its entire bus fleet to electric buses by 2027. This will make the fleet more environmentally friendly and quieter than the current buses.
