The SBB sites in the centre of Winterthur are gradually being transformed into new, attractive and centre-friendly facilities. The signalling control 2 project is being realised on the vacant area between signalling control 1 and the Wülflingerstrasse subway.

A building with mixed uses is to be constructed on the project perimeter - retail, catering and small commercial spaces as well as other public or possibly residential uses are planned on the ground floor. Office and residential uses in the "microliving" typology are planned on the upper floors. Within the project perimeter, there is an existing relay room with railway technology (signalling control centre) in the basement, which will be built over with signalling control 2. There is a bicycle station in the basement of signalling control 1, which will be remodelled and redensified and extended in the basement of signalling control 2.
