Mulitigination - Multiplicative Imagination of citizens toward a 15-minutes city

Client

Schweizer Budensamt für Energie, Stadt Winterthur

Project duration

October 2023 – September 2025

In cooperation with

Various European cities, universities and other partners (consortium of 18 members)

The "Driving Urban Transition (DUT)" programm is an alliance co-financed by the EU with the aim of making cities climate-neutral. Drees & Sommer is part of a European consortium that is implementing the DUT project "Multigination", which is based on the principle of the "15-minute city". It aims to reduce car traffic and CO2 emissions through smaller, bottom-up urban interventions. With the help of digital tools, multiple actors will be able to actively participate in the redesign of urban spaces and the establishment of bottom-up projects. This co-design approach will enable citizens to participate in decision-making and the financing of interventions to transform specific places sustainably. Currently, the cities of Winterthur (CH), Tampere (FIN) and Istanbul (TR) are involved in the project as real-world laboratories.

  • The tools developed in the ‘Multigination’ project should serve as a basis for other cities to also use a ‘co-design approach’ to promote the mobility transition.
