Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL)
4, rue Ernest Barblé, L-1210 Luxembourg
4Bund (authorized to represent: M3 architects)
January 2015 - 2030 expected
54.158 m2
The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) will be replaced by a new modern and innovative building. The building complex will be constructed on the current site of the former maternity clinic. With a usable area of 54,158 m2, it will be possible to concentrate all acute clinical activities on one site. At present, these are still divided between the sites "CHL Centre", "CHL Eich" and the National Institute for Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology (INCCI).
The new building will house a total of 474 beds. Patients and staff will have access to 18 operating rooms, 6 endoscopy rooms, an adult emergency department with a capacity of up to 315 patients/day, 2 helipads and an underground parking lot with 427 spaces. The objective of the project owner is to create a socially responsible hospital of the future, with a strong focus on patient well-being and a suitable working environment for staff. It must meet the needs of the future by integrating the necessary technical and digital innovations. CHL is also aiming for DGNB certification for this building project.
Drees & Sommer was commissioned by the CHL to provide services in the field of project management, BIM consulting and lean management.
The new hospital is scheduled to open at the end of 2028. Afterwards, further transformations will be carried out in the existing building.
