Revolutionary working world: our multi-space office in Frankfurt sets new standards for New Work

2023 in Frankfurt am Main started very specially as we not only had renewed motivation and drive, but also a new office. In recent years, our day-to-day work has become much faster and more dynamic, and these changes have also had an impact on our office space. Our colleagues from Frankfurt were all the more pleased that their new office now not only reflects their newfound dynamism and flexibility, but also promotes it.

3 important aspects for successfully establishing New Work concepts:

  1. Change management: New Work concepts also mean change at the same time, whether technical or corporate culture changes. Managers should therefore ensure the change is rationally and emotionally understood within the company.
  2. Communication management: New Work concepts should reflect the values and identity of a company. It is therefore advisable to actively involve employees in the process. Communication is the key as it is the only way to ensure smooth change and create transparency and security for everyone involved.
  3. Move management: The new requirements for effective and innovative use of the office sometimes require a move to a new building. Optimized planning and coordination are essential to ensure a smooth and routine move.

Examples of New Work in practice: our new office in Frankfurt

Our multi-space area extends over a total of 7,000 square meters and five floors, taking New Work standards to a new level. By professionals for professionals: this project was planned and realized by our own in-house New Work experts.

“The biggest challenge? Being your own biggest critic and having a whole team full of colleagues giving you direct feedback. But in the end, that’s also what makes this task so much fun! Christopher Hestermann, Team Leader, Drees & Sommer

Roof terraces, project rooms, outdoor workspaces—we show you how it’s done

Like our customers, we Dresos were able to make choices, contribute our own ideas, and keep what was particularly important to us. The result is ultra-modern spaces that leave nothing to be desired. If someone is looking for a creative exchange and wants to brainstorm together with their colleagues, there is a clear meeting point. In the midst of our open spaces and creative or project rooms, you will be sure to encounter meetings full of ideas. Flexible furniture also makes it possible to adapt the rooms individually according to needs and the number of people.

“The biggest advantage of our new home base is that we now have the space that suits us perfectly. It represents what we ourselves advise our customers on, which is the future-proof working world.” Verena Kraiß, Associate Partner, Drees & Sommer

And when things need to be quieter and you need to focus on your own work? You can just go to one of the numerous places our office has to retreat to, such as telephone boxes or think tanks. You won’t find fixed workstations with established structures here—and that’s a good thing. Instead, there are storage areas for materials and individual lockers so that the teams can work well and have the tools they need quickly to hand.

The outside areas will also be a real highlight for us. The roof terrace on the sixth floor has a large awning, electricity, and Wi-Fi, so it is not only an appealing place for breaks and leisure activities, but also a modern outdoor workspace during good weather. An outdoor meeting room for analogue meetings is also currently being developed on the fourth floor. This will be a real game changer, especially for hot, stuffy summer days.

A New Work concept that leaves nothing to be desired

If you need to clear your head, you can do so in your own herb garden or in the sports room—whether basketball, table tennis, or yoga, there is something for everyone here. This means you can switch off on your own or with your colleagues and then get back to work with fresh energy.

Our individual wishes were taken into account in the planning, but sustainability aspects also played a major role in the remodeling of the premises. For example, some of the furnishings are Cradle to Cradle®-certified and therefore recyclable. We also took 80 percent of the furniture from the former office.  This was a great project that shows what New Work can really look like.
