Stuttgart, 22.01.2024. Since January 1, 2024, Munich-based m3 Bauprojektmanagement GmbH has been a 100-percent subsidiary of Drees & Sommer SE, a consulting firm specializing in construction and real estate. As a result of the acquisition, Drees & Sommer is now the leading provider in this field in Germany, with around 650 employees in construction management alone.

m3 is an architectural and engineering firm founded in 2007. With 50+ employees and owner-managed until now, it focuses on providing planning and project management services – primarily in southern Germany. The company brings together an interdisciplinary team with architects, interior designers, construction managers and specialist tradespeople. To date, m3 has completed more than 300 projects. In particular, the company is known for its cooperation with leading architectural firms.

“With m3, we are further expanding our position as the leading construction management company with more than 650 employees in this area, and are further strengthening our market presence, particularly in southern Germany. We see the public sector, the construction of affordable housing, and the education and school construction sectors as key growth areas,” said Steffen Szeidl, Member of the Executive Board of Drees & Sommer SE. Drees & Sommer’s aim is the seamless digital integration of construction management service phases 5 to 7, namely detailed planning (5), preparation of contract award (6), and participation in contract award (7). Site supervision is another focus area (8).

“Drees & Sommer is a reliable partner who shares our commitment to high quality standards throughout all phases of construction management. The merger offers our employees completely new perspectives. Our customers will benefit from our parent company’s wide-ranging expertise and from efficiency improvements. We are now able to offer an even broader and, most importantly, sustainable range of services, especially for large-scale projects,” said Thomas Abt, Director at m3.

m3 Bauprojektmanagement GmbH will continue to develop the portfolio as ‘m3 – Part of Drees & Sommer’ under the leadership of the current managing directors Thomas Abt, Frank Haake and Joachim Konetzki. m3 Retail – Concepts GmbH will remain independent. m3 Generalplanung GmbH has been dissolved.
