Born from an idea in 2018, the Greentech Festival became an overnight success and welcomed more than 13,000 visitors in Berlin in 2022. Today, it is a global platform that promotes innovative, green technologies for a sustainable future and it is taking the world’s major cities by storm.
Held on November 17 and 18, 2022 in Singapore, the theme of the Greentech Festival was ‘Tear down, rethink, rebuild: Creating a sustainable world!’ There was a diverse program featuring engaging speakers, an extensive exhibition and an award ceremony. All in all, it was an event that brought together people, ideas, innovations, companies and organizations that, in combination, can change the world for the better. Because we can only create a sustainable future by working together! The festival registered over 1,000 guests in Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay over the two days.
Joining a large number of other high-caliber speakers, Stephan Degenhart, Managing Director of Drees & Sommer APAC, presented solutions for sustainable urban development, real estate and climate-friendly construction of the future in a keynote entitled ‘Building for the future’. This is especially important as the construction and real estate industry has a huge responsibility as one of the major emitters of carbon. A rethink is urgently needed! Based on two examples of Drees & Sommer best practice – The Cradle in Düsseldorf and cube berlin – he showed the direction we have to take, one that Drees & Sommer has already set out on. An edited video of his keynote is attached.
Visitors were also impressed with the sustainable simplicity of the Drees & Sommer booth on the exhibition floor, which offered visitors the opportunity to talk to our experts.
In one of the many highlights of the two-day festival, in the lead-up Stephan Degenhart kayaked around the waterways with Nico Rosberg and numerous other festival participants to pick up plastic. A clear statement that puts sustainability front and center in the business world and shows that we can only achieve our goals by joining forces.
