The cities of Tauberbischofsheim and Lauda-Königshofen joined with the municipality of Werbach and the Grünbachgruppe special purpose association to establish the Central Tauber Region Water Board to ensure the sustainable supply of high-quality water at reasonable prices to the inhabitants of the region. To this end, a central drinking water treatment plant was built and extensive measures were undertaken in the areas of water catchments, pipeline construction and distribution systems. Raw water from 26 wells and springs is fed into the new Taubertal waterworks in Dittigheim, where it undergoes sophisticated filtering and treatment before being distributed as drinking water to the local authorities that are members of the water board.
At the same time, the members of the water board carried out their own local measures as part of the water supply concept.
The project is subsidized by the state of Baden-Württemberg in accordance with water management guidelines.
The project involved taking over and continuing to manage an ongoing infrastructure project involving several functional stages. The various functional stages are different project phases (design, planning, construction and commissioning).
In addition to organizing and coordinating the project participants, there is a special focus on subsidy management to ensure timely application, use and accounting.
