Waldeck I pumped storage power plant was put into operation in 1932. After over 70 years of operation it was due for a refurbishment. The concept included building a new shaft power plant with a 70 MW turbine, the refurbishment of the upper reservoir and the upgrading of two turbines in the old plant.
