Over the past seven years, an impressive school building has been built on Salzsenderweg in Munich, combining innovation, sustainability and pedagogy. The Wilhelm-Hausenstein-Gymnasium was opened in time for the start of school in 2024/2025. The secondary school consists of three amoeba-shaped building sections that extend over up to five floors. The schoolyard on the first floor acts as a connecting area between the buildings and the all-weather pitch on the roof. Like the exterior walls, the other open roof areas are greened or equipped with photovoltaic systems. The building is heated by two groundwater wells in order to conserve resources as much as possible. In-situ concrete, which is mixed on site as required, was also used. Sustainable concepts were implemented, also to avoid unnecessary land sealing.
