pRED Innovation Center, Basel

Discovery and development are among the core tasks of research at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG. The construction of the new research center at the company's headquarters in Basel aims to comprehensively prepare the necessary research infrastructure for new challenges. By 2023, around 1,800 modern office and laboratory workplaces will be created in four buildings (Buildings 4-7).

At the heart of the project is an inspiring, open, and innovation-promoting work environment that simplifies communication and collaboration, and can flexibly respond to changes in research areas and digitalization. A key component for a successful research environment is an identity-forming "campus feeling," which is to be created through the connection of the buildings on the ground floor (Avenue), the adjacent green outdoor area (Science Square), and the so-called neighborhoods. The laboratory high-rises Buildings 6 and 7 are each divided into units of three floors (neighborhoods) to create smaller, manageable research biotopes of approximately 140 scientists from various disciplines. Building 5 is an office building and will offer a variety of different working options through a modern office concept. Building 4 will be used as a "Convention Center." The auditorium on the ground floor offers space for 200 people for lectures, presentations, conferences, as well as seminars or banquets.
