The home to Berliner Festspiele, opened in 1963 as "Theater der Freien Volksbühne" (Free People's Stage Theatre), is a listed building and one of the most outstanding post-war modern theatre buildings. As a design by the Berlin architect Fritz Bornemann, the democratic architectural ideal of this period continues inside: the events on stage can be seen and heard from all seats.
