The new Terminal 3 building at Stuttgart Airport can handle four million passengers a year. 40 check-in desks and a baggage handling system with 100% baggage screening handle up to 5,200 pieces of luggage every hour. As with Terminals 1 and 2, the architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners have again supplied a design with a distinctive steel tree strut construction.

It was a logistical challenge to connect another terminal straight through the Terminal 3 building site whilst business continued as normal. During the entire construction period passengers were routed along a secure gangway that was continuously adapted depending on the building progress without impacting on airport operations.
