The “New Cottbus Plant” project comprises the construction of two maintenance halls for electric multiple units, as well as all necessary peripheral measures such as ancillary buildings, outdoor facilities, track systems, and railroad technology. The state-of-the-art facility is specially designed for the maintenance and repair of the latest ICE 4 trains and will be completed in several construction phases by the end of 2026.

Deutsche Bahn is securing the growth of its fleet and passenger numbers with the expansion in Cottbus. It will also create 1,200 high-quality jobs and apprenticeships in Lusatia. Hall 2 has been in operation since January 8, 2024, and offers space for two tracks. Hall 1, with four tracks and a paint shop, will go into operation in 2026.

For the first time in the DB Group, the construction project is being realized by an integrated project team. Planning and construction companies have been working together as partners since an early stage of the project. More than 800 project participants are working together to manage deadlines, costs, and quality more efficiently than in conventional projects. This project strengthens Deutsche Bahn's innovative power and commitment to sustainable mobility.
