Tips for job interviews – by recruiter Karina Rupp
Karina Rupp works in the Talent Acquisition team and has been with Drees & Sommer since 2016. So she is always looking for suitable employees for Drees & Sommer. In this interview, she reveals what she thinks is important during a job interview.
What tips do you have for applicants who want their preparation for their first personal interview to be perfect?
Karina Rupp:Good preparation makes for a more relaxed interview and helps to impress the specialist department and HR specialist. Find out about Drees & Sommer in advance – and even about the person who will be interviewing you. The best thing is to take a look at our website, Xing or LinkedIn.
It is also a good idea to consider a short presentation about yourself. What qualifications and experience do you have? Are there projects from your work experience or studies that are a good fit with the advertised position? Why am I applying to Drees & Sommer? Why am I interested in the job? What can I identify with? You should also have thought about how you see your professional future. You don’t have to have this worked out in detail, but it helps us to know what direction you want to develop in.
And what is important during the interview itself?
Karina Rupp: In addition to the person’s qualifications for the job, we also want to get to know the person we are talking to. Is the person a good fit for Drees & Sommer and our corporate culture? So it is also useful to explain a bit about yourself, what makes you who you are, and perhaps mention some things that are not in your resumé. And on the other hand, the interview should also offer you the opportunity to get to know us. Are we a good match for you? So ask specific questions about Drees & Sommer, the job, the team, and even daily routine.
What do you pay particular attention to personally? What impresses you?
Karina Rupp:Enthusiasm is contagious. I like it when I can see that the person I am talking to is full of energy, that the interview is important to them, and that they are really keen to join Drees & Sommer.
