Drees & Sommer at 10x6: Insight into the vision of the New European Bauhaus

Drees & Sommer Luxembourg is pleased to announce its participation in Paperjam's 10x6 event on New European Bauhaus. The event took place as part of the Achitect@Work exhibition at Luxexpo the Box on 24 April.

Dr. Marielle Ferreira Silva, sustainability expert at Drees & Sommer Luxembourg, joined the stage with nine other experts to share their insights and experiences. Each speaker had six minutes to address the audience of around 700 people.

The New European Bauhaus Initiative, launched by the European Commission for all EU member states, was a central point of her presentation. This initiative endeavours to promote aesthetic, sustainable and inclusive spaces, products and lifestyles. It uses the cultural and creative dimension, innovation, technology and sustainable economy to realise these ambitious goals.

In her presentation, Marielle Ferreira Silva highlighted the fact that 37% of all waste generated in the EU comes from construction and demolition activities. However, she pointed out that only 39% of this waste is actually recycled, which is well below the 70% target set by the EU. She presented alternative uses for construction waste in the construction of new buildings and illustrated the cradle to cradle approach by means of two Drees & Sommer reference projects: The Cradle in Düsseldorf and ZIN in. Brussels.

The event celebrated the launch of the new edition of the "Paperjam Architecture + Real Estate" catalogue, which focuses on residential projects as well as export, cultural and landscape projects.
