The municipal authorities in the city of Brünn and Czech Railways planned to reconstruct the Brünn railway junction in order to link the city to the high-speed European rail network.

Brünn railway station should be relocated to a site approximately 700 metres from the old city, thus freeing up an area of around 90 hectares in the inner city.
